![]() ![]() “The Accidental Diva” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2004. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, her daughter, and many half-written manuscripts. Learning that her words have actually made somebody laugh, feel seen, or cry is the best part of being a writer, to Tia. It is the one and only way she knows how she can access real emotion in her characters. For her, fiction is the truth that is amplified about a thousand times. Tia always gets inspired to write by her real life experiences. ![]() ![]() In the year 2016, “The Perfect Find” won the African American Literary Award for Best Fiction and it garnered rave reviews in Essence, The Washington Post, Ebony, Cosmopolitan, and People. She’d go on to co-write Iman’s makeup memoir, called “The Beauty of Color” and pen some young adult novels. A movie based on the book, starring Gabrielle Union, Niecy Nash, and Keith Powers, was produced by Netflix and released in 2021. That same year, “The Accidental Diva”, her debut novel, hit the shelves to glowing reviews in Allure, Marie Claire, The New York Times, and Cosmopolitan. In the year 2004, she pioneered the beauty blog industry with Shake Your Beauty, her long running award winning site. In 1997, this University of Virginia grad embarked on a career as a magazine beauty editor, working her way on up the mastheads of Elle, YM, Lucky, Glamour, Teen People, and Essence. ![]() Tia Williams, a Northern Virginia native, graduated with a BA in English Literature, and she moved to New York City after she landed a plum gig at Doubleday Books as an editorial assistant. ![]()
